Steve Norris

Steve Norris was Conservative MP for Oxford East and then Epping Forest between 1983 and 1997.

He was Parliamentary Private Secretary to three ministers, William Waldegrave at the Department of Environment, Nicholas Ridley as Secretary of State for Trade and Industry and Kenneth Baker as Home Secretary.

He was Minister for transport in London from 1992 - 96 and oversaw the initiation of the Jubilee Line Extension and other major infrastructure projects in London. He was his party's candidate for Mayor of London in 2000 and 2004 becomnig one of London's best known political figures in the process. He is Chairman of AMT-Sybex Group Ltd, Ardmore Construction Ltd and a director of a number of quoted and private companies including initiate Consulting Ltd. He advises a number of blue chip clients on public affairs issues with special emphasis on transport and the built environment. He is a Companion of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Patron of Transport 2000.

He is also a prolific writer on land use, planning and property development with a regular column in Property Week.
